Summer Reading Challenge Review #1: A Happier Life
The first book I checked off my summer reading list was A Happier Life by Kristy Woodson Harvey, and I absolutely loved it. I'm reading my way through a recommendation list published by Country Living, and this one was the perfect place to start. What I enjoyed most wasn't just the story itself, but the way the characters discovered more about themselves through the lives of those who came before them. Family history has always fascinated me. There is something powerful about realizing that who we are today is connected to generations of people whose choices, traditions, successes, and mistakes helped shape our own paths. I found myself relating to Keaton in many ways. Like so many women today, she seemed successful on paper but disconnected from some of the things that truly ground us—community, tradition, hospitality, and a sense of belonging.
