Why I Pressed Reset: My R3 Weight Loss Journey
If you've been wondering why I’ve been quieter than usual lately, it's because I decided to press pause on everything else and focus on something long overdue: me.
I started Melaleuca’s R3 Weight Loss Plan because I needed a total reset—from sugar, from caffeine, and honestly, from the habits I picked up trying to keep up with life. I’ve known for a while that I have an underactive thyroid, and while I’ve been taking supplements to support it, I realized I was still running on fumes.
It’s funny how even when life isn’t particularly bad or hard, we can fall into patterns that wear us down. We overextend ourselves, take on too much, say yes when we should say no, and sometimes let the wrong people into our lives hoping we can be a good influence—or just out of circumstance. And in the process, something in our lifestyle takes the hit.
For me, it was my health.
I’ve always been a sugar fiend—my dad and I joke it’s our favorite food group. And while we are active and work hard physically, our bodies don’t tolerate sugar the way they used to. I knew something had to give. I needed to let my body, especially my thyroid, rest and recover from the constant ups and downs sugar and caffeine were putting it through.
Even though I’d started sleeping better thanks to Neora’s sleep chews (which are a game-changer, by the way), I was still waking up tired. I hated drinking water (I know, I know!), and tea had basically become my lifeblood. But I knew I had to change. So, I did. Temporarily, I gave up the things I loved—yes, even my tea—to give my body the chance to truly reset.
R3 is broken down into three simple phases: Reset, Reintroduce, and Real Life. I’m currently in the Reset phase, and let me tell you—it’s mentally the most challenging thing I’ve done in a long time. Not because the program is so restrictive (it’s not!), but because it asks you to say no to the things your body thinks it needs, but actually doesn’t.
The basic rule is to avoid anything that spikes your blood sugar. Why? Because constant sugar spikes cause your insulin to go into overdrive. Over time, this rollercoaster can lead to serious health issues—like insulin resistance, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and even increased risk of chronic disease. It also keeps your body in fat-storage mode and drains your energy.
So for two weeks, it’s all about discipline. You cut out those triggers, fuel your body with clean, whole foods, and let it do what it was designed to do: heal.
And it is healing.
I’m already seeing inches lost, pounds dropping, and—most importantly—my energy returning. The cravings are still there sometimes, but the strength to say no is growing stronger by the day.
If you're curious about how I got started, what helped me get through those tough early days, and why this six-week plan is something I’ll keep pulling from even after it’s done—keep reading.
Because let’s be real: what is six weeks out of your life if it gives you the reset your body desperately needs?
Stay tuned for Part 2 where I break down how I got started, what I eat, my favorite R3 hacks, and why this plan is different from anything else I've tried.
